Not like any of the current cast would have any experience making a show for the internet or anything.

I have enjoyed this season. I think they have done a good job with introducing the multiple host concept and I can see how it gives them flexibility. Sure its fun to have guests in the host segments, but why not bring them into the theater as well. Not just with past crew members. I like that it is not exactly like the old show.

Hard drive space is cheap. Buy 2 external hard drives. 2Tb will be big enough. Use a free program like DVD Decrypter to make .ISO images of your DVDs. Then you will have a backup of the entire disk saved on two backup drives. Those .ISO images can be mounted as a physical drive exactly like the DVD, or burned to a new disk, or played directly by most media players. Place the DVDs on a nice shelf with no worries about losing your episodes.

I too commented how the editing can take away the feel that you are watching the movie along with the cast, and how that really was the original idea the show is based on.

I like G okay, but man, that D the no relation technical director... Some rifftrax dvds have some of the worst picture quality I have encountered.

I'll be glad when the download is available. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

The issue is hardware. You want your stuff on a apple/android/roku product, you have to pay the toll if you want the owners of those items to have access to what you are selling on those platforms.

I use hybrid encoder to convert the episodes. It uses a deinterlacing filter called QTGMC that produces the best results I have seen yet. I have uploaded some samples from master ninja 2 to youtube for comparison. I originally did this to demonstrate the quality of the digital episodes from the kickstarter campaigns so I don't have a raw sample from DVD, but that can be gotten using makemkv.

Converted from DVD
Not perfect, but I think it is an improvement. Most noticeable on crow and the gizmonic emblem on Joel's jumpsuit.

The original show always looked cheap because it was cheap. No problem. It was cheap, but there was obvious effort put into it. The current set just looks cheap and lazy. Give me 2 hours and $100 bucks and I could put together a better console.

Sorry, I meant the discourse forum.

Chatter on the discus forum seems to point to the gismoplex being more complicated and costly than they initially anticipated. I wouldn't expect more than a basic streaming service in March. Must admit I would love to get in on the beta though.

I might not use the word 'seedy' but yes, like a franchise feel. You too can start your own MST3K branch! Call today for details!!
It does look lackluster. Does not help that I recently rewatched ICWXP ep. 205 and had forgotten how well produced they were.

If they did have their own studio space there is the potential to turn a liability into an asset by renting the space to other productions. Eliminating the studio costs, and could even be a source of revenue.

I hope that we don't have to watch ads in the gizmoplex, especially for episodes that we "own". That would be a deal breaker for me.

I think they should have each host sing the theme song for the episodes they are hosting.
