That's funny because I was thinking the opposite--that it's the most positive spin he can put on the fact that no one has given them any new financing yet. So, no actual news on new eps to announce, but don't worry we haven't given up yet, see we're making a comic and we have tentative plans for another live tour some time next year.

I think shorter seasons would be good, except for the naming, as in we don't need to be to season 15 after only 12 more eps. I wouldn't mind if they did something like season 12.1, 12.2, and 12.3 with 4 eps each, or something like that.

I liked the movie. I liked the Riffs. I love Kinga and Max. The ending was terrible.
This is and never will be classic MST3K (Seasons 2-6), but if you are a modern riff watcher--watching RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic and iRiffs like ICWXP or QuipTrax or Rifftrax Presents with Matthew J Elliot & Ian Potter or Cole Stratton & Janet Varney or Mary Jo & Bridget--it's better than any of those. (and I like quite a few of those.)
Every line of Crow's Italian accented parody of Herc was hilarious.

So, i don't think it's really being overly optimistic or MST3K-centered to think that this new Shout Factory studio creation is directly related to making new MST3K.
We know that Shout half owns MST3K, and really how many new and ongoing shows does Shout have ownership of? That's not rhetorical, does anyone know? Do they have any semi to high profile properties that are current and active and that they own? (I guess the article itself mentions 3 movies to be released)

I think specifically it was for backers who got the Mystery Gift as an add-on.

...I guess this does give us something to talk about while we sit around with no news on Season 12...
How's that for a silver lining!

Yeah, I would love to have an alternate Mystery Gift, as I have virtually no interest in a weird repaint figure, signed or not. But, I can't see how they could go with this option thinking of all the current unhappy Mystery Giftees that would then be even more unhappy with their current gift.
Really, the only way to go is getting more of the same thing made, giving money back, or giving something new that would ALSO be available to other people--like a free (and maybe signed) version of upcoming season 12 or something.
I DO think they are pretty well into a corner and up a creek here as they have a marginally bad choice that's collided with a very real mistake, and I really don't see an 'everyone is happy' solution being even feasible.

That's a lot of guesses and assumption there DK, but I agree to the general idea that Joel never envisioned 14 eps and 10s of thousands of backers to please. To be fair though, it was him on Kickstarter wrap-up night gleefully announcing more eps if they reached dollar amount X and Y.

Yeah you would think. Again, I'm not hard up for a quick fix, but I agree that part didn't come off too well to me either. The quote from the email was,
"And, because we already spent most of your contribution making Season 11, we don’t have the money to offer you a full refund. (And even if we could, that would be pretty disappointing after all this time.) If you’re upset about this, please know that we’re just as upset, and we are going to figure out how to make it up to you."

Just got an email from Ivan about my missing Mystery Gift (see the swag thread for details), and at the end he says,
"In the meantime, we’re sorry (again) for this mixup, and we’re so grateful for your patience — we hope you enjoyed the other rewards you received, and are still enjoying Season 11. We’re hoping to have more news about Season 12 very soon, so stay tuned."
So, there you go--official mention at least of future seasons.

So, it's official, they messed up the Mystery Gifts. I just got an email from Ivan and it sounds like lots of people didn't get them. I think it's all the people that actually paid for them as an add-on, which is (ironic) funny since people are complaining they're not worth it and the people who didn't get it are the ones that actually paid extra like a real product for it.
Oh, and they don't have any money to give refunds, so they're not sure what they're gonna do. I'm old and not poor (and am disappointed with and don't care about a Funco repaint) so I'm not to broken up, but man, this is more bad news for the finish line of the kickstarter.
Okay, wait, there's one other piece of news and I'm gonna post this in the other thread too--Ivan's last line of the email states,
"In the meantime, we’re sorry (again) for this mixup, and we’re so grateful for your patience — we hope you enjoyed the other rewards you received, and are still enjoying Season 11. We’re hoping to have more news about Season 12 very soon, so stay tuned."

I haven't actually opened my bluray set yet, can't decide if I want to. But, it looks like there are no mini-movie posters in it. If so, that's a bummer. I've really liked those as we've been getting them in the regular MST3K dvd releases over the years.

Yeah, I checked and the blu ray set says right on it Collector's Edition. I'm shocked there's a 25 page booklet crammed into that 1 inch thick box along with 8 discs. That's not even as big as a standard Shout 4 disc 4 ep release. (Literally--I just set it down next to one and compared).
The 'Mystery Gift' is pretty lame, especially considering it was $100 (plus $10 shipping!). If I want overpriced consumer products I can find those (and overpay for them) in a dozen places. I was assuming the mystery gift would be something unique--and don't tell me that that silly messed up Funko doll is 'unique' just because they only produced X number of them.
This here is the danger and IMO one of the dark sides of Kickstarter. This was a highly successful kickstarter and here we are with a disappointing finish because creators and backers get carried away with bonuses and stretch goals and such. (although, shhh, don't tell, but I'm glad we got 14 eps of new, pretty darn good MST3K, even if it was gotten from over-hyped stretch goals.)
If this final disappointing swag release coincides with no news of a Season 12 during Turkey Day, that will be a pretty sad end to 2017, the big year of the Return of MST3K.

Wow, so did some more internet reading and I did not get my Mystery Gift. That's really lame, as I paid $100 extra to get both the blu ray set and the gift. Maybe it's coming separately? I sent an email to them.
Overall, I'm pretty unimpressed over this last round of rewards. Of course it turns out I don't have the actual mystery gift, but still. My thoughts are that it was just a bunch of mass produced stuff, and nothing 'unique' or special. Bummer.
Still glad I helped make 14 new eps, though.

So could someone help me out and verify what the mystery gift was supposed to be cuz I'm fairly certain I didn't get it. Also, how can I tell I go the bonus disk to the blu ray? my blue ray is a relatively cheap looking single box that holds about 5 disks with nothing else attached.
