I've said this many times, but I really wish they'd tackle a film that was done during the KTMA era, like 'SST Death Flight', or 'Phase IV'.

This is hard for me. I like Joel and Mike equally.
My feelings about Jonah is he isn't a *bad* host, I just feel he doesn't really have a personality that's distinctive enough from Joel. He's definitely not like Mike, but he's just kinda "Joel 2.0" to me.

"Fire Maidens from Outer Space" at least has some cute dancers. "Creatures" has dancers, sure, but they ain't cute.

I've always maintained that "Incredibly Strange Creatures..." and "Invasion of the Neptune Men" were the two worst pieces of trash ever featured on MST3K, so yeah I'd say Mike had it rough.
I think the only two majorly bad films from the Joel-era would probably be "Castle of Fu Manchu" (largely for Christopher Lee wearing Asian make-up, thus making most of the film uncomfortable to watch), and the short "Catching Trouble" for blatant on-screen animal cruelty.

Ok, I'll be honest, someone spoiled for me who made the return guest appearance in this episode, and it really made me not want to watch the theater segments and just watch the host segments (also my spare time is limited these days).
That was pretty cool that he came back, but.... his return appearance does raise some questions. Like, why do Kinga and Max know about him? I mean, I guess maybe Kinga met him when she was much younger, being Forrester's daughter and all, but Max?
Frank having been cremated adds a touch of fridge horror to Frank's send-off in ep. 624. I mean I just assumed his entire being ascended to a higher plane of existence, but the fact that he was cremated makes me wonder, was his dead body found laying around outside Deep 13 afterwards? That's..... dark.
Also, Dr. Forrester had a spaceship?

That segment with Jonah spilling his past embarrassing life moments made me think of the segment from The Brain That Wouldn't Die where Mike is telling the bots a shameful moment from his past.
So, that really was Roger Corman? The whole time I just thought it was a lookalike.
I'm glad somebody on staff noticed that tall guy looked like Ryan Stiles.
Was it just me or did the guy with a mustache kind of look like Mike Nelson?
"I don't like this shot. It's not grate." "Don't worry, Tom. I know you're just venting."

I've only watched the first two episodes of Season 12 so far, so I'm probably not in any position to comment (things in my personal life have gotten in the way of me bothering to watch more episodes), but while it's interesting to see more robot characters on the show (and in a way, alludes to the KTMA era where supposedly there were a bunch of other robots on the ship, we just never saw them), but..... what IS Waverly and Growler's purpose really? Just for there to be two additional bots? Gypsy has a purpose, she helps maintain the ship while the others are in the theater. Do Waverly and Growler do that too?
I will say that the concept of Growler is kinda cool, due to him looking like a Muppet.

Hampton won me over the second we heard his voice in those Kickstarter ads. I just thought, "Oh my God that sounds almost exactly like Trace! Sold!"
The problem with Baron as Servo, is Servo always had a deep voice regardless who was voicing him. Josh had that deep monotone voice, while Kevin had a deep smooth voice. Even the guy that did Servo in those short-lived Flash cartoons gave Servo some deep vocals (it actually sounded about on par with Josh). Baron is not voicing Servo with a deep voice, and it's.... weird. It just doesn't fit to me. There are a couple times, where I guess it sounds fine, but for the most part, as i said in my review of "Mac and Me", Baron hasn't won me over yet.

Was this a Syfy movie? It had that "vibe" to it.
The episode was OK overall, but this episode kinda demonstrates a big problem with riffing more recent movies. I don't know if anyone had this issue, but for me there were moments where a character in the movie said something snarky, and for a moment I thought it was Jonah or the Bots saying it. Or vice versa, Jonah and the Bots would make a joke, and it sounded like it was coming from one of the characters in the film! Since both MST3K and the film ave the same high audio quality, this gets a little disorienting at times.
One thing that put a smile on my face was hearing all the "Metal Gear Solid" references.
I also had a good hearty laugh over the "Bring your kid to work Day" comment.

Speaking of Jonah, what other color jumpsuit you think would suit Jonah, should they decide to put him in a different color suit?
Somehow I think purple would suit him.
I suppose they wouldn't plan on changing his jumpsuit color anytime soon given they're still hanging on to the "Jonah has to re-enact his capture" intro.

She may still work at Syfy, but I don't think she's still president. I thought some other guy took over years later (someone who infamously remarked that he never met anyone who watched more than 10 minutes of MST3K).
Still, I'm glad that Syfy acknowledged MST3K's anniversary.
Pretty much the only time MST3K was ever referenced on Comedy Central was whenever Jon Stewart mentioned it while hosting The Daily Show, but since he's no longer with CC, MST3K references have dwindled. There was Mike, Kevin, and Bill appearing on the show "@midnight", and i think Jonah, Hampton, and baron turned up on that series too to promote the Netflix revival.

Adam Conover. Except instead of actual riffs or jokes, he just picks apart whatever facts the film got wrong, or talks about needless movie trivia that will forever ruin your movie making experiences.
