it's a bad transfer, plain and simple. in the case of pod people, it looks like they combined two sources (primarily a new digital transfer and part of the old one that was on the rhino dvd) to patch up one spot that was corrupted and just dumped it on to the new dvd. That makes sense. Oh well... I'll try not hold it against Shout because I'm impressed with almost everything else they do. I'll have to check out their re-release of Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders. I've heard it looks better than the old Rhino version, which was so dark you could barely see anything.

I just recently watched Pod People on the Shout re-release of Volume 2 and the picture quality looks absolutely horrible compared to the bootleg copy I own. I don't know how the Rhino version looks because I've never owned it, but criminy! The Shout version is almost unwatchable for me.

I thought this was a pretty decent episode. It's not one of my favorites from the new season, but it definitely has its moments. The movie itself is also fairly watchable in a fun B-movie way.
I love when the slavers are taking the captured humans to the Mahars in chains and Jonah exclaims, "I think those are the guys from Yes. And there's Kansas and Genesis (early Genesis)... Why they've enslaved all of prog rock!" I always laugh at the prog rock references in the original series and I'm glad the new series has continued that tradition. Another great line comes from Crow in the same scene when he says, “What is this, the Sid and Marty Croft death march?" For some reason that line had me in stitches.

Is the consensus among you guys that "Cinematic Titanic" is a reasonable replacement to the original series ?? Man, I don't know if it just takes getting used to the strange set-up, the audience guffaws, or what, but I just can't get any laughs out of the 5-minute previews on you tube whatsoever... I really want to like it, especially since we aren't getting a new release this summer, but I feel like if I order it, I will be selling it at cut rate on ebay a week later. Truth be told, I think the original Minneapolis episodes are actually pretty rough to get through. I know, I know, I will probably be tarred & feathered, but I'm spoiled by the Comedy/Sci-Fi run, one of the greatest comedies ever aired... The original KTMA/local Minneapolis episodes are hard to get through because the riffing was improvised and not scripted like all the Comedy Central and Sci-Fi Channel episodes were. That's why they are not near as funny as the episodes that were to follow on cable. I think Cinematic Titanic is very funny. Obviously some episodes are a lot better than others. My favorite episode is The Alien Factor. Some of my other favorites are: Legacy of Blood, Danger on Tiki Island, and War of the Insects. In general I think their live material is usually their best and often on par with some of the best MST3K episodes. Everyone has different tastes though. Hope this helps a little.

The poster would be cool to have, but the Amazon deal is just too good to pass up. I was worried I was never going to be able to complete my CT collection until SHOUT announced this set. The Amazon pre-order price is the cherry on top.

I've only seen clips of The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, so I probably don't have enough personal experience with that. Having said that, I'm having trouble thinking of another movie MST3K's done with genre similarities. Pod People, maybe? It's hard to compare The Garbage Pail Kids Movie to anything MST3K has done, but if I had to compare it to just one movie riffed on the show, I would have to say it's closest to Hobgoblins. Like Hobgoblins, The Garbage Pail Kids tries to be a funny light-hearted comedy but ends up being a complete failure of a movie on all levels. Plus both movies were released in the same era (late 80s).

Very cool list! I'm surprised by how many of these movies I haven't seen. I would love to see The Garbage Pail Kids Movie and The Giant Claw riffed, although they are pretty hilarious in their own right.

I love this one. It is definitely up there with the two Wizards movies as my favorite episodes of the new season. 9/10.

$49.95 for all twelve is a pretty good deal. Up until now I was kicking myself for not having completed my collection a few years ago when all the CT DVDs were on sale on Amazon. I'll definitely be purchasing this set.

This one seems to be getting a lot of love on here and elsewhere, but for me it's by far the weakest episode of the season and probably one of the weakest episodes in MST3K history. Minus two or three jokes, the riffing just isn't very good and the movie is a total slog. I was actually really looking forward to this one when I first heard it was going to be in the new season, but it just doesn't click for me.

This one is another instant classic for me. It's not quite as funny as the riffing on the first Wizards, but it's very close. Heck, I even named myself, "Caedmon", on here because I enjoyed this one so much.
I love when B-movie "sequels" have no relation whatsoever to the previous movie.

This is my number one favorite episode of the season. I re-watched it again last night and enjoyed it even more the second time. It really is up there with the best episodes in the show's history in my opinion.

This episode is easily one of the best of the season. The riffing was very funny and consistent throughout and had me laughing out loud quite a bit. The parade host segment was equally as funny as the riffing and has to be ranked up there with some of the best segments from the show's original cable run.

I've always considered Pumaman to be the most overrated by far. It's pretty good, but not near as good as everyone says it is. As far as most underrated, I'd have to go with Earth vs. the Spider. It's one of my favorite episodes and it never seems to get any attention.

Ok all binged out. Overall an alright season that I was too hard on at first, but it's won me over. 1. Wizards 1 2. Wizards 2 3. The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t 4. Beast of the Hollow Mountain 5. Avalanche 6. Cry Wilderness 7. The Land that Time Forgot 8. Carnival Magic 9. The Time Travelers 10. Yongary 11. At the Earth's Core 12. The Loves of Hercules 13. Reptilicus 14. Starcrash Very nice. Your list is almost completely identical to mine. The only difference is that I would place At the Earth's Core at 7 and The Land that Time Forgot at 11.
